We had a leisurely morning as the hotel checkout was midday and we weren’t due on the boat until 2.30. Our digs (the Moxy) were a little eclectic but we had a great stay. One of the unusual elements was the ‘feature wall’ below, it was authentic with the light flashing on and off regularly.

We went back to Mayflower Park as Jane wanted a view of our boat from shore. There was a small visible migration over including Meadow Pipit and Skylark.
We did some last minute shopping in town for items we hadn’t brought. There was an obliging Pied Wagtail I took a couple of shots of.

We set sail with an hour of light. Distant gulls, egrets and herons lined the Solent. The water itself was largely quiet, but a group of Great Crested Grebes and a Red-throated Diver might be the only ones of the trip.
The boat itself has dodgem cars, a climbing wall and a myriad of other distractions. I am going to try and ignore them for a few hours tomorrow as we cross the mouth of the Bay of Biscay.
